There are several online resources that can help you during the job hunt available through the Library. PrepStep (also called Learning Express) is an online interactive tool that has a series of online modules/course that include material on career preparation, job & career acceleration, basic computer skills such as PowerPoint and Excel, and modules on workplace professionalism. The workplace professional module has information on workplace attitude, email etiquette, job interview tips, and how social media is used for & against you in the job hunt. This is an excellent tool on the Library A-Z database list.
You can also do company research on Academic Search Complete and Business Insights: Essential. These databases can be found on our A-Z database list on the Library website. If you have a problem finding the link, ask one of the reference librarians at the Library or use chat reference 24 hours/7 days a week Ask A Librarian on the Library website. www.bcc.cuny.edu/library.
As a CUNY student, you have access to the Wall Street Journal. This source will give you excellent up to date news on a company if there are news items about them.
The NY Public Library has a ton of job searching resources, go across the street on University Avenue to the Francis Martin branch and ask them to direct you to some job search resources. A most important resource is a free account on lynda.com which has small online courses that allow you to learn office suite tools such as PowerPoint, Adobe, Excel, and other programs used in the workplace. There is a free solution to lynda.com called khanacademy.org, but lynda.com is an excellent source that is highly recommended.
