Ways to Search for Streaming Media

If you have a specific film title you want to watch or an album you want to listen to, then you should use BCC OneSearch to begin your hunt. OneSearch is BCC Library's catalog and discovery system that will show you if we have access to something, and if so, which database has it.

***SEARCH HINT: Choose "Advanced Search" and select the Material Type to "Video/Film" to narrow your initial search down. You can then specifically find streaming media by adding on the "Full text online" filter on the left side of the page***

If you want to browse or get a general idea of the variety of streaming resources we provide, then you should go to the "Streaming at BCC" tab to discover the many different databases we provide.

Recommendations for the Best Streaming Experience for Educators

  • When showing a video in class, give students a direct link to the video instead of "sharing your screen" while doing a Zoom session as there are less technical difficulties this way. Links can be posted in Blackboard, in the chat box on Blackboard or Zoom.
  • To prevent technical difficulties, always check with your students to see how they plan to view the video. Are they using laptops, cellphones, tablets, etc?
  • Always have a backup plan if technical difficulties prevent the screening of the planned video or film.
